Q: I've never done a butterfly release before. How does this work?

A: We have two types of butterfly release packages. Most people opt for our DIY Release packages. Your butterflies will come individually packed in their own envelope which can be passed out to attendees for them to open. These envelopes are in their own small box for storage until time of release. If you would like to release the butterflies at the same time from a release box we can customize one for you for an additional $30 (selected at checkout).

Butterflies (in envelopes or mass release box) are packaged inside a second box with ice packs to keep them cool, calm, and comfortable during transit and up until release time. Instructions will be provided on how to handle the butterflies upon receipt and how to release them.

You will either pick up your butterflies from my home in Plano, Tx or we will have them delivered to you for an additional fee. If you are in the DFW area we can send them via courier for $20-$60 depending on how far you are from Plano, Tx. This eliminates lost packages in the mail and gets your order directly from my door to your home or office within an hour of it being sent. Out of area packages will be sent Next Day Air.

Our Full Service packages are all inclusive. If you want a hands-free, stress free, release we do everything for you to assist you with the release including delivery, care for the butterflies on site, release assistance, assistance with photos, and butterflies for photos opportunities upon request.

After you place your order on our website we will contact you to confirm the details for your release.

Q: Where are you located?

A: We are located in Plano, Tx. We operate out of our home so all visits are by appointment only after you have placed an order.

Q: How can I reserve butterflies for a future event?

A: You can reserve butterflies online by placing an order here on the website or by calling us directly at 682-238-0026. Once we receive your order, we'll contact you to confirm details for your upcoming event. Feel free to call us to make sure we can accommodate your timeline. Please note, your butterflies are only held for your event after you have placed your order and made payment.

Q: How far in advance should I place my order?

A: It is recommended to finalize your order with us within a month from your event. While we can usually fulfill butterfly release orders on short notice, scheduling ahead will ensure we have butterflies available on the day of your event. It takes about 30 days to raise butterflies from egg to adult ordering in advance helps us ensure we have enough butterflies for your order.

Q: I need a butterfly release for today/tomorrow, can you help?

A: We strive to always have butterflies on hand for situations just like this! Call or text us! 682-238-0026

Q: What happens if it rains?
A: Butterflies cannot fly in the rain. If it rains you will need to wait for the rain to stop to release your butterflies. If the weather is going to be rainy all day on the day of your event we offer the ability to reschedule or a full refund for weather cancellations only. If you already have the butterflies you must return the butterflies alive to receive a full refund. If we see that it is going to be raining on the day of your event, we will contact you to reschedule/cancel before sending your butterflies.

Q: What happens if I need to cancel my order?
A: You can cancel your order up to 7 days before release with no penalty. Order cancellations in less than 7 days will receive a 50% refund as we have already spent the time and labor to raise butterflies for your event. Weather cancellations are only good on the day of or day before event. Weather predictions are not accurate outside of that timeline.

Q: How do I receive my butterflies, caterpillars, or chrysalis?

A: I have several ways for you to receive your order:

  • Free pickup is available for other orders from my home by appointment. Located in Plano, Tx near 75 and Parker Rd, north of Dallas. I will contact you after your order is placed to arrange a day and time. Same day pickup may be available in some cases. Please do not arrive without an appointment.

  • Uber Courier Delivery allows us to deliver your order directly from our door to your door within an hour. This eliminates the risk of your package getting lost in the mail and gets your package to you in the safest manner. It generally costs $20 to $60+ depending on your distance from Plano, Tx 75023 along with the time of day. Peak hours are more expensive. You will be given a link to track your delivery in real time.

  • UPS Next Day Air is a flat fee of $50. Packages should arrive next day by 12pm in most cases. All out of area butterfly release must be shipped via next day air to ensure survival and timely arrival.

  • Full Service Butterfly Release orders will be hand delivered by myself to your event along with release assistance and more.

Q: Will the butterflies arrive alive? Do you have a guarantee?

A: We take care to ensure that the butterflies are fed immediately prior to being packed up and provide them with a cool, comfortable environment with the fastest shipping options available so that they arrive healthy and ready to fly. If your butterflies do not arrive alive we haven't met our goals and will provide you a refund for each butterfly that did not survive. You must return the expired butterflies to receive a refund, as they can still be used for educational purposes. Our only case of expired butterflies was due to the package being lost in transit for two days during the summer. This does not happen often but is a risk of shipping through mail systems. This is not an issue with our DFW local courier deliveries or full service deliveries.

Q: Where can I get milkweed for my caterpillars?

A: Our Monarch caterpillar rearing kits come with enough milkweed to feed your caterpillars to adulthood.

Only feed your caterpillars untreated milkweed. Even if a nursery says the plants haven’t been sprayed, assume they have unless they grow the plants themselves.

Here are safe options:

  • Purchase from pesticide-free growers (ask for proof of treatment practices).

  • Harvest native milkweed from rural areas, open fields, or roadside ditches. Always identify the plant species beforehand to avoid confusion.

  • Note: Any milkweed kept outside may have the OE parasite and should be disinfected and rinsed well before feeding to Monarch caterpillars

We also provide freshly harvested milkweed with all our caterpillar kits.
